After our first real trip in the 1997 U270 I had some interesting problems and questions. The Sureflo water pump performed flawlessly for most of the trip. Towards the end of the trip the water pump would not turn off with the switch under the cabinet (stayed lit up green) even when I disconnected the wires to the switch. The pump discharge was hot & it would not pump enough pressure to use. I had to disconnect the ground wire to get the pump to stop. Today I wired it up and again it works perfectly. One other note the rocker switch under the cabinet top does not click on, it only makes contact & then stays in the down position as opposed to the hot water switch next to it that stays up for on and down for off. I think I will order a new water pump for a spare but do you think the rocker switches should be replaced also. I am not sure which component is causing the problem.
Thank you for any help or insight you have.
Jim,
It sounds like that rocker switch is the problem and was causing a short. I am surprised the fuse/breaker did not blow. A spare pump might not be a bad idea either.
This is a momentary rocker switch that triggers a relay.
Once for ON & once for OFF - on/off.
More likely the relay is stuck closed.
Mine is in the Electronics bay but your may be located elsewhere.
A photo of what mine looks like is attached
Whoa, Barry! Can you tell us about where in the coach the picture was taken? Our vintage U270's are plain Janes so I know you have tons more electrical than we do. Thank you for your usual detail.
Our Electronic Bay is Drivers side D3. third one from the front.
Barry, that makes perfect sense! I was questioning my ability to disconnect a wire from a simple switch. Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge, I really appreciate your help. I will search for the relay first thing in the morning
I had not considered a relay, but that does make perfect sense.
