DW wants to know if the Ice Maker can be used as a extra freezer instead of a Ice Maker. I don't have the foggest idea.
Pat,
Are you talking about a stand alone ice maker like U-Line or an ice maker inside your absorption refrigerator?
Brett Wolfe
Pat,
If it's a U-line (stand alone) freezer, just turn off the water line (under the sink) and it should work. We have put extra meat (Alaskan salmon) in there when Dometic freezer was jammed full of same. :)
Just flip up the bail so it won't make ice.
We used our stand alone "U-Line" freezer for storage of Ice cream, and other frozen foods for many years in our previous coach. 8)
You guys got it - the U-Line stand alone unit. Will tell the wife. It will make her happy. Don't know what she is planning for it, but she says we don't need a ice maker. So be it, she has spoken.
We have used our U Line for an extra freezer for several years now. I was going to take it out to make extra storage but then decided on the freezer route. The only down side is running the inverter when traveling and the extra load on the engines alternator. So I added an other 2000 watt inverter for just the ice maker. We also have solar and a big 1600 amp hour battery storage bank using golf cart Trojan T106 batteries. Works for us.
Thanks Brad,
And it is a great pleasure having you advise me!!! Looked at the pic and it sounds just like you!!!! Had no idea you had a Foretravel.
Pat
When fish are biteing makes a great place to freeze filets.
