I've been reading about some of the slide bladder problems. My problem is that the red light does NOT come on when I return the key to it's normal position going in or out. I've heard the pump come on and I seem to have a seal. I assume I have a light bulb problem. I've been told that if I didn't have a seal, I'd know it as the I'd feel the wind blowing in, and see light around edges. Correct? I know this is a dumb question!
Not a dumb question.
You should also hear the pins slide into place. Replace the bulb for sure.
We always visually inspect the seal before opening and closing to verify that the bladder has completely opened or sealed.
Your 03 does not how've pins the way Georges does. The process is the same though, you turn the key and the bladder deflates and when ready to move either in or out the yellow light comes on. You push the button to extend or retract the slide and hold it. That will cause the red light to come on. You continue to hold the button till the red light goes out. That says the slide is either fully deployed or retracted.
You can see around the edge when the bladder is either expanded or contracted. There is about a quarter to three eights of an inch of space.
