Title: Tennessee RV...OMG I'm SHOCKED!!
Post by: Carl Sandel on August 10, 2010, 12:26:48 am
We just got back to Michigan from a week in Tennessee. Since we were only 35 miles or so from the Tenn. RV dealership in Knoxville we decided to go look at a couple used FT that they had on the lot. My wife and I have ONLY seen our 1991 U280 in person and could hardly wait to see the 2 2001's they had. I am about 99% sure they were 01 and not 2000. We were told that one of them was the owners. ( I was also told that our coach was bought new from the owner years ago, but I don't know for sure and it really don't much matter )

I kid you not....they are asking $149,000 I think for each and they were FILTHY! I mean they were REALLY FILTHY!!!

What gives? Am I missing something or is it normal to offer a coach that has baked on, hard crusty FUNK & SLIME in the bottom of the freezer?

I'm not sure because we did look inside of a SOB too, but if it wasn't the FT it was an SOB and it smelled EXACTLY like HORSE MANURE!!  I've spent my share of time on a farm and there is ONLY one thing that smells like horse manure and that's HORSE MANURE!

My wife was absolutely appalled.

Don't get me wrong....they were very friendly and helpful. BUT I kid you not....FILTHY is a 100% understatement....inside and out.

It was 102 degrees that day and we made the trip with our 10 and 13 year old boys and we were all very disappointed to say the least.

Just sayin'

The Tennessee RV dealership sales has seemed to go downhill a lot the last few years. Likely consignment coaches, the dealership takes little or no responsibility or interest in them as the profit margin is relatively slim. MOT and FOT both work hard to turn coaches as quickly as possible. If a coach is not priced well, they will speak to the owner to lower the price - if it can be done...

....I see. Well, that's good enough for me. Thanks Dave :) If that's how a dealer works, it's unlikely that our next FT will be from a dealer. ( still shocked )

You should stop in and see some of the used ones at the big nationwide chain which I will leave nameless.

I believe that one or both of those coaches was there when we stopped in LAST YEAR to have our windshield repaired at Tennessee RV. I know we looked at a coach that was "the owner's" and was for sale at that time.  They weren't clean, but they weren't repulsive, either.  They were, however, overpriced.  Saleslady was VERY nice and we got great service in a timely fashion.  I guess they are in the middle of a rough patch.

They may be in a bit of a rough patch, but trying to sell a MH with a disgusting odor is just plain stupid.  Hot water and some scented cleaning solution can be done before mold sets in.  I guess the owner(s) don't "get it."  As a prospective customer I would be totally turned off and would assume that anything wrong with any other coach for sale had also been neglected.  But that's just me.  I hold retailers to a higher standard.  MOT and FOT exceed my standards.
