On my 94 u300 the main dash instrument lights(rpm, speedo, temp etc.) work well, however, the lighting for the side panel with the rocker switches (docking lights, retarder, boost, etc.) doesn't work. Thoughts on a fix?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Kevin,
Check for dead bulbs in the side panel switches, whether you have power to any of them and if the dash dimmer is set too low.

On my 1997 U295, there does not appear to be any back lighting for that panel. There is a rocker switch labeled, "Map Light," that controls the puck light on the cabinets above that panel. That has been the only effective lighting I have found to help see the rocker switches.
A lamp in the "Retarder" switch illuminates when the retarder engages. It remains dark, even in the "on" position until the retarder is engaged by the joystick or by application of the service brake.
Thanks for the replys thus far..................J.D., I didn't think so either until one evening the letters below each rocker switch were illuminated in blue, was great while it lasted......I am thinking a short of some type, but don't know how to diagnose or fix.
In our 1991 U280 there is no lights for the panel mentioned. I've looked and looked but have not found any indication that there ever were lights in that area. It's a bit frustrating for me but I've learned to just live with it. As a side note, my wife and I both really LOVE our coach....with or without lights for that panel :)
