As an owner of a newer VW diesel product I have been made aware of fuel additive issues. FT forum members should wander over to http://www.tdiclub.com/ (http://www.tdiclub.com/) for some extremely tested info on the topic. Here is a link to fuel additive ideas: http://www.biodiesel.org/pdf_files/fuelfactsheets/Lubricity.PDF (http://www.biodiesel.org/pdf_files/fuelfactsheets/Lubricity.PDF)
There are new diesel cars and trucks with very high pressure fuel pumps that need fuel lubricity for survival. Some of the old treatments such as Marvel and ATF actually are harmful.

Hi gootie,
Welcome. I belong to the tdi group, and this wonderful Foretravel group. We have a 06 jetta tdi, six speed auto.
It gets 42 mpg in our everyday driving. But put it on a long highway run and it will get just over 60 mpg. We run to the ocean every so often, four adults, with baggage. Just about non stop 65 mph from home to ocean. It burns just over 2.2 gallons for the 140 miles. We love it.
I went the other way:
I traded in my 04 Jetta TDI wagon this Feb for an 07 Z71 Tahoe. 15 mpg city, 16.5 hwy. We don't drive enough these days, and I can tow the Tahoe 4 down. We still have the 03 Deville which gets 26 mpg hwy if a local trip is needed. Any substantial trip is an excuse to drag out the
Foretravel.
Hi Dave,
Your right about getting the coach out. Any excuse is great. I just can not find room to park at the ocean, in Maryland. Just way to tight. But I remember a first road trip, to Key West, FL, with this really big Foretravel, and that SUV following us. It sure was a tight fit, but it looked good on Flagler, running by the bars! It would never happen again, but it was such a great time.
