Title: Dash A/C blower
Post by: Bill Chaplin on August 23, 2010, 05:31:18 am
Has anyone replaced the Blower in a Grand Villa. Looks like I will have to cut a section out of the lower right side of the dash ( carpet covered).
It is squealing really bad now. 1993 U300

Bill,

I replaced mine in a 92 Grand Villa did not have to cut out any of the dash, the hardest part was finding all the screws under the carpet.

On my 95 U280 The dash blower is behind the circuit breaker board, loosen all the screws, tip it back and remove blower.
BTW Blower is standard Chevrolet of about 1970 on up and is also GMC and chevvy pickup, take it in to NAPA and thay can match it.
I changed mine in OK in 100 plus heat in about one hour.

Thanks for the reply Bobby, I just looked at my installation. It is located just forward of the co-pilots feet/knees. Did you take the carpet down. Did you remove the fan from the motor to get it out and back in.

Bill,

I pulled enough of the carpet down to get to the screws there is also some screws around the base of the tv that is under carpet. I think I had to remove the tv to get to a couple of them, you also have to disconnect the a/c duct from the diffusers and let it hang. I did not have to remove the fan from the motor it all came out in one piece.  Sorry not much help but you can get it out without having to cut any part of your dash.

That looks more like what I will have to do Bob. The SO goes to the back of the coach when I turn the blower on now.
How long did all that take ??

Bill,

If you work like I do it is a one day job it goes back a lot faster then the removal I take a lot of coffee breaks.
