We have placed three water leak/overflow alarms in our coach, near water pump, under water manifold and behind toilet. They are simple and work very well with no false alarms. Cost is only $10 each at Harbor Freight and that is without their 20% off coupons. http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result/?category=&q=water+alarm (http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result/?category=&q=water+alarm)
Barry, I couldn't tell from the catalog item description and photo - does the alarm have a 2-electrode sensor, and if so, can it be remoted?
Is this battery operated or do you have to supply 12 volt or an AC plug? Sure looks slick. I'll be ordering.
Description says AAA battery.
The owners manual says that it takes a 9 Volt battery.
Confusing isn't it?
Regards,
Water alarm has cigarette pack size part that uses one 9-volt battery. Switch on side has off, music tone, alarm sound positions.
A thin two conductor wire extends out to a simple quarter-size part that has two conductors on one side and suction cup on other side. A wet fingertip can be used to test the unit. I assume it just measures resistance and any moisture will complete the circuit. Simple design.
Wire can easily be cut and extended for remote sound. We did not extend wire and count on hearing the sound through the coach wall. Sound is not real loud.
They are so cheap, we just bought 3, but in reality more could easily be used.
