Title: 2002 U320 upgrade TV To Digital
Post by: itsrobg on August 28, 2010, 05:37:49 pm
Getting ready to let the factory service cutdown the headbanging cabinet and install a 26" Flat Screen.  We chose 26" so we can still maintain part of the cabinet woodwork.

Any recommendations or tips?  They want abot $650 labor to cut cabinet and install the TV..Sound right???.  Any other places or installers in So Texas that are better.....

Thanks ROB

That seems like a fair number.

That's less than we were quoted several years ago.  We (Steve) did our own.

IF you are possibly considering upgrading to MCD blinds in the future (we highly recommend them, BTW), we recommend having the back of the cabinet cut to be flush with the padded valence as well, so that a single roll can go all the way across the windshield.  Better light blocking and a lot cheaper for the blinds that way.  David Flanagan at the factory is actually the one who pointed it out to us.

We had our TV replaced with the Sony 26", MOT did the job, cut cabinet down alot, perfect fit, then installed the motorized single roller blind from MCD, best modes ever made.
In fact so happy, had the roller blind over the steps changed to the electric, boy that is another biggie.
Both rocker switch controls are on the drivers side panel in two of the blank holes. Love it.

Hi Dave:
Where did the MCD blind roller assemble get installed to avoid hitting the hump on the back of the drivers side dash when lowered?

Fiddler,
The windshield roller was done at MOT, when you and I met, you had just taken delivery of the 40', think Jan 09.
Anyway, there is no problem hitting the dash on my 01 model. Feel MOT did a super nice job getting it adjusted to stop both top and bottom settings.
The blind might get pushed forward slightly, but not a problem at all.
They ordered the correct model with about a foot of border along bottom. Have to ask Mike at MOT I guess for the exact model.
Had the step roller installed at Keystone in Pa, they are not MOT for quality, must have been the very first MCD blind they ever saw, Total deer in the headlights.
Did not know you were a ramp rat ! or Jarhead.

Title: Re: 2002 U320 upgrade TV To Digital and Winguard Tape Model to DVD

What about changing the Tape player to DVD??  Do you need to buy a new Winguard or substitude the DVD for the Tape on the current Winguard??

Thanks, Rob

The DVD should just plug in to the VCR spot. I have a 1993 and it did so on mine.

Would you suggest getting the MCD shade directly from them or having the factory order it (Fit?}  Do you know what you length was used?
Thanks

Each shade is custom made, so your coach likely needs to be measured.  Not too difficult for the side windows, but for the front shade I would recommend visiting MCD, MOT, FOT, or one of the authorized MCD installers.

We went to MCD since we live only an hour from them.

For future reference, I just spoke with David at the plant.  He says he stocks shades that fit the front window. We will see how it works.
