Title: Sliding Cargo Trays
Post by: Kent Speers on September 01, 2010, 10:09:42 pm
I am having a very hard time spending the money they are asking for the hardware to build a sliding cargo tray. Since there are so many brilliant engineers in this group, I figure someone else is a miserly as I am and has either designed their own sliding cargo trays, has plans for building their own or knows where to get the components to build cargo trays for the poorer Foretravel folks that haven't yet purchased their U320.

Come on guys and gals, there has to be a less expensive way to save my knees and back.

Kent,

Think about it before you add a cargo tray.  Yes, they are convenient, but you also lose a significant amount of cubic feet storage.  I would build or buy cargo boxes (with rollers if you like) that can be secured during transport.  You can always use your awning stick to reach them and push/pull them when you need to.

Just a thought.

You could also get one from an RV junkyard like Colaws...

P & B, You are most correct. Capacity is minimal with the U225. I have been using cargo boxes and the stick. See, I really am cheap. But my back is dictating that I do something less strenuous or more surgery may be in the offing.

Dave, thanks. I have already sent them an email.

True.  We have one sliding tray in the biggest compartment.  It opens in one direction only and runs the full width of the coach.  I would be lost without it.  Your back will thank you every time you use a sliding tray.

I have made HUGE ($$$$) improvement on my U225...Tile floor, auto sat. system, all new (or rebuilt furniture) etc, etc, but the ONLY improvement I couldn't do without is my cargo tray...one of those things that you say "sure wish I had done that so many years ago" . Cost is less than 2 tanks of fuel...
