I need to refill my dash AC and add some oil, since some was lost in the leak. Anyone know what type of AC pump oil would be used in a 99? Choices are PAG and Ester oil, and it seems to be at the whim of the manufacturer.
Coach manual is no help with this. Did a search on the archives and came up blank.
Thanks!
Dave,
Better call James T Monday morning.
Dave;
I had to look in my text book (Modern Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) for a reply to your question. PAG (polyalkylene glycol) and POE (poly ester) are both compatible as you mentioned. PAG the book says is for automotive use however they cautioned to check with the manufacture for specific uses. So i guess this is not an answer only a confirmation to check with Foretravel.
My 1987 GV dash a/c was preforming poorly and i did not want to purchase high priced R12. I have a 30# canister of R134a so I decided to convert it to 134a. I took the compressor off the engine and drained the oil out and put in the same amount of POE (poly ester) oil plus an extra ounce, which is compatible with R12. I did not flush the lines, change the filter dryer or the Thermal expansion valve, nothing else. Pulled a deep vacuum, charged with R134a and it works like a champ. ** POE is compatible with both 12, 134a, and mineral oil.** I saved some money and our a/c works

PAG oil is used at the service center at Foretravel.
Thanks! I'll get some when we get to a resting place.
You're quite welcome.
Survey says:
In your 99 it is SP-20 PAG OIL
Just a confirmation
Thanks, Barry!
