I need to replace an inoperative ATS. I have the new Iota ATS TN RV supplies currently for replacement.
I have the installation figured out, I think. The only thing I do not understand is the operation of the SECOND ATS which services the inverter. I need to know how this switch functions and what exactly triggers it to open and close.
Any help out there?
The second transfer switch under the bed is fed by 2 sources and powers a breaker box.
That breaker box powers items that can be run on the inverter.
The 2 sources of power are the inverter or 110VAC from the 110vac breaker panel.
Here is a diagram of mine. yours should be similar.
Thanks, Barry.
I still do not understand what activates the relay. If the shore power is connected is the relay activated? Or is it activated by the inverter being on?
I guess what is confusing me is I do not know what the PURPOSE of the 2nd ATS is; does it prevent the inverter from transferring power to the coach, or does the shore power/generator a.c. prevent the inverter from powering its outlets.
Yes, and it powers the breaker box.
If you lose 110vac and the inverter is on , the inverter will power the breaker box now because the relay has lost 110vac power.
As long as you have 110vac you dont need the inverter powering the breaker box.
So the shore power/generator a.c. prevents the inverter from powering its outlets until you lose power and the relay switches.
