This afternoon, the deadbolt on the entry door will not advance! The deadbolt will move about only a quarter of an inch when turning the inside knob and when turning the key. It does not move at all when clicking "lock" on either the console or the remote, there is no sound, as well. The basement door locks function properly with the remote. What's broken? What can I do to fix it? Any other ideas welcome.
Usually it is a broken wire in the door jam going to the lock .
It sounds like a broken Solenoid. You can remove the connector by taking the opening handle off. The Black FOrd part and reaching in and upluging the solenoid. The dead bolt should then turn my the key with no problem till you have it replaced. you have to take the ring off the window and a bunch of screws out to get the replacement swapped out. I did it three times on my 99.

As Barry stated I would check the wiring going through the door to the actuator. Mine started acting the same way, except it was stuck in the locked position. I finally got the dead bolt unlocked with the remote and disconnected the wire to the door actuator. If the wiring is good then your problem is most likely the actuator. I believe Barry has a link to a site that has the actuator. I have not tackled the replacement of the actuator, but I spoke to James T. and he said it was a little labor intensive, but not really hard. If you isolate to the actuator just shoot me a PM and I can give you the pointers James gave me in replacing.

Ah ha! Thank you John, Brad, Barry. This is what I wanted to know. It is a job for TN RV and NOT for me. Will lock with the other lock till I get to "the shop".
I wonder since using the knob or key can not move the dead bolt, maybe it is more of a mechanical issue with solenoid jamming or broken.
Have not had the experience YET, but just trying to picture how a bad wire would cause the knob or key from operating the dead bolt.

My assumption is my actuator stuck in the middle position and that is why my dead bolt would not move. After I got the door to unlock I disconnected the actuator and it has been working for the last two months. I need to start the fix, but have been doing a little remodel on the table behind the passenger seat.

Yes, when the actuator dies it is a pain in the backside and the wheels inside are plastic and it will break.
John, Oh yes, plastic gear/linkage or what ever, that sure leaves a lot to the imagination for possibilities :o

For the front door, it's probably necessary to get an actuator from FT Parts.
The MES W15F actuator replacement that Barry has listed on his site works fine for the basement doors on my 99 U270, but when I needed to replace the actuator in the door, there wasn't enough space to fit the MES replacement in, and I transplanted an original one from a bay door and then replaced that one with one of the MES W15F actuators that I bought.
The replacement of the actuator wasn't hard, as other have mentioned, but strongly recommend using an electric screwdriver to R&R all the window screws, and they are a little finicky to get started when replacing the rim.
