Title: Re: New 2 me 1993 U300
Post by: Kent Speers on September 24, 2010, 09:00:46 am
George, my "new 2 me" was full body painted at Foretravel last year. The interior had new carpet installed, the couch, drivers seat and co-pilots seat recovered, all new valances and shades a custom matching bed spread and throw pillows, electric front shades and new Peninsula double pane windows were added at Foretravel. The previous owner was a wood worker and added walnut window sills, TV cabinet, a new LCD TV, Winegard sat system, GE Advantium Microwave and the fanciest Pioneer radio/12 CD/XM radio system I have ever seen. The living room chairs are a new Palliser Euro Chair and new Lazy boy recliner.  He basically did everything I would have done if money were not a factor.

It also has new tires, shocks and rear brakes. The engine is a Detroit and not a spot of oil anywhere on it or under it. I like it a lot. Can you tell?

Kent,

Sounds as though you found the deal of a lifetime.  That is an impressive list of improvements.

You know you wouldn't have upgraded if you didn't have to keep up with the Savournins....And after driving that 40' in Missouri....your welcome....

Congrats. I did a total remodel of my coach. It cost more than you think.  You got a great deal.

FOT did a great job. I have the invoices. WOW! $700 for pillows.

As much as we love our 2000 U320, we are not enamored of the Foretravel interior decorating style.  Our pillows were early into the dumpster and the bedspread was donated to MOT for use as a drop cloth.

George. Shame on you, that bedspread cost the original owner at least $700. Those pillows are $2-300 each. I've forgotten her name but Ray's sister was doing the interiors back in those days and frankly her idea of fashion was Las Vegas whore house tacky. I think many of us who are not full timing have bedspreads and pillows stored in our attic for the next trade. As a side note, many of the coaches of the early 21 century have  a Villa passenger chair made to her specs. They are too shallow and my wife felt as if she were being ejected and she isn't very big. David flanigan found us some better designed Flexsteel chairs, what a wonderful difference. Information on this problem came from the Villa factory.

Kent;  I was at a rally with the previous owners of your coach and saw all the improvements they did to it.  A very nice couple and very conscientious about their coach.  You can see a picture of that coach on the FT website showing repainted coaches.    Norm

Norm, I of course met Sandie Rostie when I picked up the coach, a real classy lady. I just wish John were still around so I could thank him for doing such a great job of restoration. It is a very sad situation for the Rostie's but a real gift to Peggy and I.

Gerry, thanks for response. I have owned the coach 10 days. I drove it from Denver to Kansas City to visit a sick aunt and lived in it since I bought it. I is a real sweetheart and it runs like a top. I have always been partial to unusual things, no reflection on my DW. Will head back home on Tuesday next week. I am anxious to be driving it again.

Kent,

How about posting a few photos that we can actually see?  From that little thumb nail shot it looks like a real beauty.

George,

Look at the message posted by Tim previously.  It contains a link to a pdf file of the coach.

George, once I get it out of this tiny RV park where I can get some good photos, I will be proud to post a few shots. John Rostie and the FOT paint shop did a great job in my humble opinion.

Apparently you hit the jackpot. That is one nice ride. Sorry to hear of the misfortune of the previous owner. However, it appears the moho found a good home and will continue to please the new owner. Good luck in the future. Enjoy the ride.
