Title: Power Tech Governors
Post by: Dave M (RIP) on October 09, 2010, 02:50:17 pm
Have been considering upgrading the Kubota governor to the electronic isochronous type.

The present governor is a mechanical type and has the normal 3% variation.  +/- 3% from the 60 hertz standard.  This is very fine except the microwave clock gains or loses time depending on the load on the generator.  Lightly loaded it gains and with heavier loads it loses time.

In my setup, I have been able to adjust the range between 61.12 no load and 59.32 with available full  load.  This is very good and acceptable to most folks.  Also the present mechanical governor is very dependable.

The down side is cost.  Installation and testing/adjusting with/without load is a time factor.

Just wondering if anyone is interested in spending approx $1K+ to make the proper upgrade.

I am not selling this product, just wondering if anyone is serious enough to spend my time to work out the details for the Kubota Diesel mods.

Have not looked into it yet and it may become more expensive depending on the actuator required and a mounting bracket.  The controller is not the hard part, the actuator hook up is/could be.

Just some food fer thought.  Test question.
