One of the two puck lights over the kitchen sink has been acting up and finally blew. Replacing it, the new bulb wouldn't light.
You can completely dis-assemble this lamp, down to removing each wire from the ceramic holder. (Reminds me of the movie 'Short Circuit' - NO DISASSEMBLE!).
In my case there was an intermittent contact issue that caused a high heat and insulator oxide buildup on one of the friction connections for the G4 lead. I scraped off the oxidation with a sharp blade and was good to go. 3 phillip screws that hold the puck in, 2 tiny ones that hold the cover in, 2 black phillip screws for the wire guide. The ceramic block snaps into the plastic cover. Care is needed here - if you break one of those snaps I think yer likely done. Then you can 'inch out' the connectors with a knife or a jewelers screwdriver.
If you have any 'intermittent' halogen G4s this is likely the problem...
Is there a source for the decorative (or not) rings that fit on these lights and hold the little round glass piece in place? I have 30 of these buggers in the coach with "gold" plastic rings. too many of them are cracked and fall off at the slightest touch. I'd love to replace them with something more substantial than plastic ... and the gold is not my favorite, either!
