I am curious as to whether anyone has this: Under my dash, right above the brake pedal, is a three inch diameter red clearance light that comes on (and stays on) whenever the ignition is on.
I think I know when the ignition is on so what might its purpose be?
Please, no remarks about the sublimely ridiculous house of ill repute connotation.
My old sob gas rig had a white clearance light that was on all the time under the hood. I think best to call Noc and ask if they have any ideas.
Are any of your dash illuminator bulbs red? If so this may just be a bulb that has fallen out of a socket and is hanging below the dash.
Some questions that might help us zero in on it purpose are: Is it on even when the head lights are not on? Is it in a permanent mount as though it was intended to be there? Does it look like an after market addition? Did the previous owner wear silver slippers so that the red light would reflect off of them at night?
Talk about possibilities, Have seen red lights or horn/buzzer under dash for many things such as low oil pressure, high water temp, low air pressure, low water pressure. even the parking brake alarm or simply a reminder that he left the ignition on, Heck people are creative so you might have to talk to his shrink to figure out the why.

Kent,
This is a large (3") round red covered light such as might be seen as a rear clearance light so it is extremely unlikely it came unplugged from the dash. It is on no matter what once I turn on the ignition switch. As a matter of fact, it is almost directly below the switch. There seem to be about five or six wires connected to it. The only thing I haven't tried is to turn the battery disconnect by the midcoach door. It is on my list so I guess I will try it tomorrow. (we are kind of worn out from cheering on the GREEN BAY PACKERS!!!) Will let you know results.
That's a new one on me. Maybe someone else knows. James Triana at Foretravel may know what it's for. The fact that it has a number of wires indicates it means something important. He is at extension five when you call the main number. He has heard from me a lot over the last three years.
i had the same [kinda thing] on my 1989 u-300 , one night i heard a strange squeeky sort of voice in dash area ,there he was a little green guy ,with a small bag of little red lights . i sicked molly [ my std. poodle ] on him . last time i saw him/ it , was plume of dust headed for SOB .
