Title: Speaking of winterizing - icemaker water line heater wire?
Post by: Michelle on November 18, 2010, 07:19:10 pm
Considering we had the "joy" (read "cost") of replacing our crumbled icemaker water line (NDR-1492 fridge) this year and prefer not to do so again...

Since some suspect that the heater wire enclosed with the water line is the main contributor to water line deterioration, does anyone know for sure that the heater wire is disabled when 12V is switched off at the coach door?  If not, is there an easy way to disable this "feature"?  I checked the owner's and parts manuals on Barry's site but didn't immediately see any reference to this heater wire.

Michelle,
Did you ever find the answer to this question? We activated our refrigerator ice maker for the first time and the water line is leaking (NDR1492). I am not sure if it was broken when we purchased our coach. Or, if I caused it during this winter when the water line was off and the 12 volt switch at the coach door was turned on. Does the heater for the ice maker water line work when the refrigerator is turned off? Thanks, Larry

My 98 coach and refer has a heater switch on the back side of the refer.  You access this from the wall door outside.  Small black switch, that enables the heater thermostat to heat the line and the valve.
