Title: Old vinyl graphics
Post by: bbeane on December 15, 2010, 05:54:32 am
Hello all, does anyone know where one can get the orginal exterior graphic material. My 1999 U295 has a few scratches and dings here and there. However to repair 2 of the issues will require removel of some of the vinyl. The exterior gel coat finish and graphics are in great shape, it's just not paint time yet.

Thanks

Encore RV in Nacogdoches has the remaining decals from the Foretravel factory.  However, you should keep in mind that these decals are getting "old in the tooth" and others have reported that the decals haven't been durable, i.e., the adhesive doesn't last.  You might give thought to having a similar design painted on.  XtremeGraphics in Nacogdoches has done several of these.

Due to accident my decal on right side was removed ( tough Job ) and Decal was replaced with paint ( costly ) but you can barely notice the difference.

The best price and quality I have found for "almost" OEM graphics is:

RV Stripes & Graphics
10849 E. ApacheTr.
Mesa, AZ 85220
e-mail: info@rvsg.com
(480) 984-7939

Their pricing for complete replacement was less than 1/2 of the price for repainting in NAC. They use new custom decals made of material as heavy as original. I'm sure repainting the stripes is a better way to go if you can find someone to do quality work or if you can get to Nacogdoches but if not check out these guys. I never had the work done but after talking to them, I was impressed.

I used RV Stripes & Graphics.  Their product design and labor were excellent.  The results lasted until I went with Xtreme's FBP.  Any big graphics store can duplicate your graphics very closely.  You may have to do one side to keep from highlighting the small difference.

My vinyl stripes were terrible when I bought my coach so I undertook filling the cracks (thousands) with pudy and sanding all that smooth and masking, then had a friend paint them. Huge improvement but not perfect. Upside was the only expence was materials. I will never, repeat never undertake that job again. It took me a month working a few hours a day to get it ready to paint. The labor would have been thru the roof for my job. The vinyl was as hard as metal and just as resiliant. The only vinyl I went back with was the gold wings you can see in my profile pic. Next coach I buy may need some things at time of purchase but stripes wont be among them.

Thanks for the help, called the parts guy at Encore he has what I need. I would love to repaint butttt 13-20K just ain't in the budjet these days. My gel coat still shines like new and the decals are still in reasonable shape. Just have a little bo bo on a bay door bottom. Just so every knows Foretravels don't do well on newly plowed roads into the hunt camp. You know one of them deals when your better since tells you to stop, but your hard head makes you go any way.
