I really have to commend the guys at Foretravel for engineering such a sturdy device to keep the dining table from sliding open when going around curves. And after 10 years it is just as tight as ever. In fact, it takes a Sumo Wrestler to move it.
Got any suggestions what we could put on the wood components of this slide mechanism to make it easier to open and close the dining table?
Perhaps a light coating of paraffin wax? You can find it in the canning section of many grocery stores. Just rub it on like you would a crayon (you could use crayon, but that would be colored, not clear).

Paraffin wax will work as will beeswax. I can't find the source right now, but I seem to remember beeswax being mentioned for drawer slides, etc.

I have some of that in the tool box that I use to coat wood screws. I'll dig it out tomorrow and give it a try. Thanks, Michelle.
George, Look carefully under the table and be sure that the screws are in place and tight. The screws4 loosened up in mine making it hard to slide and I had to drill new holes and put in new screws.

Wax lubricant makes me think of White Lightning (http://www.whitelightningco.com/). Should be about to find it at any good bicycle store or knife store. I have used it on all types of sticky things and find it works great.
Carnauba wax is great for sliding surfaces. It is very hard and does not attract dust that softer waxes will.
We rub the drawers, table-slide and the floor-slide (in front of the co-pilot) with an old candle. Works well and lasts.
