Title: Replacing Carpet in Front of Coach
Post by: Ben and Bonnie on January 19, 2011, 01:21:43 pm
I am trying to replace the carpet in the front of my 99 U320 coach. Does anyone know how the cup holder/magazine rack on the passenger side of the coach comes out? I removed 4 screws on the magazine rack plus two at the bottom of the cup holder  and it still won't come out. There must be a couple more screws hidden somewhere. Thanks for any tips you may have.

Remove the switch for the floor slide.  There is one hidden in there also.

When Foretravel put tile in our 1999 U320 they did not remove the carpet under the mag rack or the table aft of it.

best, paul

I see the screw, how do you get to it? The cup holder is glued in yes?? Will the cup holder top come off?

On mine, I took a long screwdriver and angled it through the switch hole.  Tough, but do-able.

On the carpet, when you remove the carpet, you will expose the wire looms.  I built walnut chases to cover the wires.  Carpentry intensive, but nicer than leaving the wires exposed or carpet covered.  As in the bathroom (water closet).

Ben, if your slide was readjusted with one type of carpet and you put a different one in, you will need to readjust the slide too.

I found the last screw in the cup holder.
I changed my mine and will put wood up front instead of carpet. This way it will be easyer to keep clean, and a lot less of work.

Do you have any pictures of your new floor. I am sure everyone would love to see it.  It looks really good.

So just how tough a job would you rate this?  Did you remove everything?

Gayland, yes I removed everthing but the brake pedal, I raised it up just to get the flooring under it,  From ! to !0, 10 been the hardest, it was a 2 for me.
Time consuming for sure.I like to take things apart to  see how they work.
