If my vin # is 1F97D5365XN054877. Then what is my build #??
Tis is a 99 U270 36 ft. Why is there not a 99 in the vin #? Appreciate your help. Tks DAn
Maybe because it was built in 1997. A search here will disclose what each of the items in the vin # represents. I forget them, now!
Dan. Oops, bad assumption, the 97 does NOT represent the year of manufacture. I just checked mine and it as 98 in the similar location and I know mine was built in 2002. Sorry!
Your build # should be the last 4 digits in the model # before the length of your coach and what ever model you have , wtbi, and so on.
Dan, the build number is embedded in the "model number" located below the VIN number:
For example: Model: F99551236WTFEU320CE27. The build number in this case (mine) is 5512
What is your model # under the VIN?
Located under the VIN on the ID Plate
Example: F 03 6024 4023 AGDS U320T E31
03 = Year
6024 = Coach Build Unit #
4023 = Internal Designations
AGDS = Floorplan
U320T = Chassis
E31 = Internal Engine Designations
Reading the Vehicle Identification Number (http://beamalarm.com/Documents/vehicle_identification_number.htm)
Tks for the replys now I understand. It sure is nice to know that there is a lot of smart
Foretravel owners out there and a place to connect. DAN
On autos, at any rate, the tenth digit indicates the year.
Code Year Code Year Code Year Code Year
A ---- 1980 L ---- 1990 Y ---- 2000 A ---- 2010
B ---- 1981 M ---- 1991 1 ---- 2001 B ---- 2011
C ---- 1982 N ---- 1992 2 ---- 2002 C ---- 2012
D ---- 1983 P ---- 1993 3 ---- 2003 D ---- 2013
E ---- 1984 R ---- 1994 4 ---- 2004 E ---- 2014
F ---- 1985 S ---- 1995 5 ---- 2005 F ---- 2015
G ---- 1986 T ---- 1996 6 ---- 2006 G ---- 2016
H ---- 1987 V ---- 1997 7 ---- 2007 H ---- 2017
J ---- 1988 W ---- 1998 8 ---- 2008 J ---- 2018
K ---- 1989 X ---- 1999 9 ---- 2009 K ---- 2019
In your case, the tenth number is an X which matches the table.
Note, I cannot seem to get the formatting to work, sorry.
John: Tks that helps me understand why there is no 99 in the vin # DAN
Dan,
you are welcome. I only know about VIN numbers because the Sports Car Club of America requires certain classes of cars to keep their VIN numbers and that the VIN number matches the year they claim the car is.
Steve says it's an SMF bug so he tweaked it and redid your post..... :)
Michelle
Steve,
I figured that's what happened when I saw the nice columns. Thank you!
