Question:
With the retarder joy stick in any position other than "not engaged", and the throttle closed (say just coasting/trans braking only, no service brakes), is the brake light "on"?
Similarly then, joy stick engaged in any position other than "not engaged", now the throttle is open in any possition (accelerating), is the brake light "on" or "off"?
So, what activates the brake lights?
Thanks for your input.
on, off
The brake lights are on whenever the retarder is retarding or the service brakes are braking.
The retarder is retarding when the you depress the brake pedal, and also when you are decelerating or coasting (no accelerator pedal) with the retarder master switch on and the joystick in other than the full-forward position.
Tom,
Thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure about the accelerator pedal input to the "brake light" circuit. Apparently there is some sort of circiut leg through the throttle that when depressed the brake light circuit is opened (and the retarder master switch is "on" and the joystick is any "retard" position).
