I am new here and don't want to start off on the wrong foot because there is a lot of great information and people on this forum. But I am curious why there are so few topics on newer module FT.
I will be picking up our new 2011 Nimbus CE soon at the plant and am expecting the "quality build" and "engineering excellence" I have read and heard about in FT to be evident in the new coach. Are there any newer model owners on this forum with feedback on there coaches? Good or bad?
Chris
Welcome aboard, Chris and congratulations on your new 2011 Nimbus CE. You won't get off on the wrong foot with us. So not to worry.
As to your question, I will hazard a guess that there just are not that many newer coaches out there. Fewer new coaches translates to fewer owners of newer Foretravel motorhomes.
Chris,
Welcome aboard and congrats on your new Foretravel. Don't know your RV level of expertise, but having chosen a newly built Foretravel I have to assume you've done the leg work.
You're in good hands with Foretravel of Texas for the warranty period. I suggest you spend a good couple of weeks at the factory after closing to iron out the "kinks", read ALL the manuals, become familiar with the coach features, etc.
Most of us at the Foreforums have older coaches, so we may be a bit biased toward the older beauties...
All the Best
Chris,
We'll echo the welcome!
I think George is spot on here. "Back in the day", FT build somewhere around 2-300 coaches per year. With the newer business model, much more customization and coach complexity, 25-50 coaches per year is closer to the norm AND what the factory is targeting to build. We do have some members with newer coaches and I'm sure as the miles add up they'll be sharing their experiences here.
The forum (in this incarnation) is fairly new as well - hopefully more and more owners will find us so we can add discussions about the newer models. It's been surprising how low a percentage, in general, of owners know about the forum as a resource. We'd love to see ForeForums show up on Foretravel's "helpful links" on their website some day.
I definitely encourage you to post about your new Nimbus CE! Tell us about the unique features of
your coach, what it's like to build a new one, and what you learned that you didn't know before.
If you're in Nac when we're there next month (March 6th-ish until ??), we'd love to meet you.
Michelle
Most new(er) coach owners don't 'need' us. They have warranties and the factory on speed dial.
We're herd animals...
Thanks for the replies!
But even with a warranty, it is always great to have an experienced group as a resource to help explain things and solve the simple issues. So I will be "bouncing" things off of you guys for sure.
Chris,
Something else to keep in mind when you are out in your Nimbus. This group can tell you where to get the best apple pie, hear the best Blue Grass music, find the best museums or select the best route to drive. We are a whole lot more than batteries, belts, bearings and water pumps.
Hello Chris,
Just so you do not feel the only one out there, I too am an owner of a 2007 Nimbus Foretravel. We love our unit and have been fulltimers for ten years. We travel from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Marathon, Florida and back each year. We have made three complete trips already and love the unit. Prudhoe Bay is above the arctic circle. I have driven charter buses for country western singers for 30 years and now retired. I think the Foretravel RV is quality. Many of my past clients (who are still alive) have traveled with us in our coach and they love the comforts they do not have in their tour buses. Yes, we had some problems but Foretravel always took care of them well. We will be at the Buddy Rally in April before going north to Alaska. Hope to see you there. Enjoy you new rig. Take out the extended warranty and Coach Care. Most of all, have fun.
