Title: Posi Lock replacement
Post by: MAZ on March 03, 2011, 01:59:16 pm
My posi lock door stop arm is broken. The lever that catches and holds the door open is broken off. Factory has it for $224.62. Is there any place that might also carry it for any cheaper? P/N: 001-507. For a 99 U270. Thanks for any input.

Mark

You might check this out on Ebay. Don't know if this part might include your broken piece: RV NATIONAL RV POSI LOCK FOR ENTRY DOOR PN 001-523 - eBay (item 160471000278 end (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RV-NATIONAL-RV-POSI-LOCK-ENTRY-DOOR-PN-001-523-/160471000278) You may be able to tell from the picture.

Thanks Bob. I looked at that earlier. It is not the right part number and it looks different than mine.

Mark. Have you tried the Posi-Lock fellow. I don't remember his name but do remember pleasant dealings with him many years ago. The phone number is on the label on your door. If it's not there for some reason or other, email me and I'll look it up.

Horace,
There are not any numbers listed on my door label. Are the posi lock people the same as the PTL Engineering that makes the door? I have PTL's number from the web page.

Last Spring I ordered a replacement Posi-Lock for our 1998 U270 from PTL Engineering.  Real nice folks to deal with and if memory serves the price was around $160.  It's easy to replace with no door disassembly required.  Just be careful and don't allow the cable slip inside the door; I secured the cable with needle nose vice-grips before disconnecting. There is an allen set screw that functions as a stop which limits the amount of movement when the door is latched open, it's critical to adjust it so there is just discernible movement in the door.  I think my Posi-Lock failed because it had excessive play and the wind snapped off the latching lever.  PTL Engineering phone # (810) 664-2310)

Good luck and I were you I'd soak the phillips head mounting screws with penetrating oil for several days so the heads don't strip.

I just found my invoice:

PTL Engineering
Date: 04/14/10
Part Number: 001-507
Description:  POA-A-LOC ARMS-90D STANDARD "OLDER STYLE" "08"
Price: $128.35
Freight: $17.50
Total: $145.85

I had forgotten that they shipped and wanted payment only after we received the POS-A-LOC; very trusting in todays very distrustful world

Another point for the 95 model. All I have is a nylon strap!
