Title: Cummins and Allison parts
Post by: Lon and Cheryl on March 05, 2011, 03:10:29 am
Is there a supplier of Cummins and Allison online parts at discount prices?
I'm new to truck parts buying and was hoping there might be alternatives to going to the dealer and paying dealer prices.
My immediate needs are for a Cummins 8.3 and a Allison MD3060.

How about filters, belts and hoses?

Thanks.

I use the local auto parts dealer (PartsPlus), NAPA, and Oil Filters | Discount filters | Products | Diesel Engine Filters (http://www.filterbarn.com/).  NAPA gold filters are the same as WIX filters.  I will not use a Fram filter, but have heard that their products are much better than they use to be.  Donalson filters and Fleetguard are highly regarded for diesels.  Cat makes the best fuel filters at 2 micron for their Cat diesels!!!  There are some aftermarket filters that are comparable.

Thanks for the help. I will go to Napa for my belt, hose and filter needs.
I also need a Alternator, rear wheel seals and brake pads, Does Napa sell these type of items?

They may have to order.  But why the rear wheel seals?  Are they leaking?

The left side has a leak.

For those parts you listed, I would head for a truck supply house, not NAPA as NAPA generally does not handle such items but for a price they can get anything.
A truck supply house will most likely have most of the items in stock and at a better price and quality  than the NAPA type stores.  Alot of the NAPA type store stuff for trucking seems to be the will fit instead of does fit or made for the application.
Been my experience.  :)

Good Luck

I agree with Dave M. I use Truck Parts East to source stuff for me.  THey will ship it too you and they supply stuff to the Cummins shops as well as other places. The owner used to be a foretravel owner and they know our coaches.
