One of my struts pulled out of the fiberglass wall on the inside of one of my bay doors. This left a larger than normal rivet hole. I decided to use a wall anchor with the "wings", however the screw was too long and I lost some paint where the screw almost came through the exterior wall of the door.
Has anyone else tried to reattach the door struts/spring lifts that pulled out of the bay door, and if so what did you use?
David, I had one pull out on me and I used a larger piece of metal ( alum.) to cover the holes that the ribits came out and reattached the strut to it.

I dug out some of the material inside the hole, stuffed it with kneadable epoxy. After it hardened, redrilled and reriveted, or used a sheet metal screw, can't remember which. Did the same thing with a latch on the generator door.
I haven't had it happend to me yet but I was just reading Barry's page on this very subject the other day:
Fixing Broken Rivet on Fiberglass Door (http://beamalarm.com/Documents/fixing_broken_rivet_on_fiberglass_door.htm)
Thanks for all the replies and ideas.......next time I will one of these suggestions.
