My hydraulic pump has been weeping oil for some time, and now seems to be getting more serious. I also see some weeping at the fan motors as well. Of course my first action was to call Foretravel and get some pricing for the affected units.
As I recall, the prices were:
Hydraulic pump = $1500
Primary Fan Motor $1900
Secondary Fan Motor $700
Of course, this is without freight and taxes one would imagine.
Therefore, I am doing research on alternatives to spending the amount of funds listed above.
Aparently, my hydraulic pump was manufactured by Sauer Sundstrand who is out of business.
There are rumors that my pumps are not re-buildible. I find that difficult to believe and wonder if any of you have had occasion to get yours re-built?
I have read quite a few of the archives that relate to my problem without finding a lot rebuilding info.
I did run across the suggest where the person added Lucas Hydraulic Oil Conditioner and Stop Leak to the system with positive results. I have purchased the Lucas and added it to the system in a 5% mix as recommended by Lucas. I hope it will buy me some time to weigh alternatives to spending copious amounts of money.

I just replaced a leaking Sauer Danfoss secondary Hydraulic Fan Motor Foretravel Part # P36583. $504.
Mike Grimes said it was their last one.
It was a bear to get out and replace.
The fans have very little clearance & has to be mounted just right working blindly under there.
I could see some nips in the blades where they were hitting.
The primary fan motor was around $1200 & he had one.
I found out that Sauer Danfoss sold that motor to a company in England and now has a 12 week lead time.
The same with the seal kits.
But was recommended not to rebuild because the center part could be worn .
I will be taking this old one down to a rebuild shop to confirm if it can be rebuilt & if so I will put the new seals in it.
Yours is probably a different motor.
Now I am waiting for my tag air bag to replace.
The hits just keep on coming ???

When I read posts like yours I always wonder how many miles on the coach with the problem. The answer gives me some idea of when I might expect the same thing. Thanks.

I find comfort in that number. I also realize that these parts in some coaches will run for a lot more miles. I am just trying to see what might be in our future. We are at 112,500.
I haven't taken a close look at the Fore hydraulic motors but in past experience I've found that they're generically similar like electric motors. Match the face style, displacement, shaft length, diameter and keyway and you've got a replacement. Sounds complex but I bet if you throw one of these on a knowledgeable hydraulic supply parts desk they could cross reference.
Is there something about this danfoss motor that is unique or purpose built?

Do you think the fabricator of the radiator in corpus might offer some thoughts? I too have thought about electric conversion but read somewhere that space might be an issue, anyway I talked to the corpus fab. a year ago and found him to be very knowledgable and innovative, although I did not discuss the conversion or the motors. jc
Jon, a local Hydraulic shop put a seal in my pump without removing it from the coach. Cost was 120 bucks. Conversation I had with him was that it would be real unusual if he could not either rebuild a pump or match to a new one.
Give him a call, I know you are far from GA but he might have some ideas.

Forget electric fans as a replacement. The HP it takes to drive the fans on high speed is WAY outside the range of electrical systems (alternators/fan motors).

I wasn't suggesting electric fans as a replacement, doubt it would ever work. My point was that generally speaking hydraulic pumps are interchangeable among brands. They have industry standard bolt patterns for mounting, displacement sizes, shaft lengths and so forth. They are industrial commodity items and the prices I'm seeing for replacement are way above what I've normally paid for hyd motors. Take your motor to a hydraulic specialty shop and I expect they will be able to find an exact replacement in a different brand.

I don't recall the name but there is a hydraulic shop/battery shop just south of MOT. My guess is that they do a lot of work for both MOT and FOT. Might be a good source for a replacement motor. I think we have Forum members in NAC. If so they might be able to get the name and number and even pose the question to them and post the answer.
Some of my notes from the previous owner indicates the name of that Hydraulic shop south of MOT as:
