Post by: gam on April 04, 2011, 05:49:13 pm
My Wife and I had to move from Texas to Michigan last month. Licence plates last year in Texas where $210. This year in Michigan the plates for our 1999 foretravel will be $1,240. IT's so nice to be back Joe

All of you know, of course, that Tennessee has no income tax? What you didn't know is that the license plate for my coach is $24 every year, ($25 if I want it mailed instead of going to the courthouse). How about that? Now if we could get the governor to lower the price of fuel at HIS Pilot and Flying J truck stops!

I paid just under $70 in Ohio last year for the Foretravel registration.  We do have a 3% - 5% progressive income tax & a 6.5% sales tax...Oh, yes our Pilot & Flying J's are also just under $4 per gal. (diesel).  Auto insurance rates are not out of hand...yet.

Overall, the cost of living (COL) for the average Ohio city is close to the national average.  Cincinnati is among the lowest COL in the state.

Peter, your correct and I do already, but the FT will join the other stuff when I retire/sell the business. As long as the business pays the tax, guess it will be in Va. :(

My NYS plate is cheap too, don't have personal property tax here, but we sure have real estate property and school tax which is well over that $4K just on the house I live in and the 3 acres it is located on.  Anybody know what to do with 2 useless acres on the side of a hill???  Not big enough for a ski resort, darn it.

Oklahoma is $22 per year, no personal property tax in Oklahoma. Insurance is less than $1,000 per year. We do have state income tax.

South Dakota...

Licence fee for 5-6 years= $10.00  Tags for M.H. and car= $10.00
Became residents before buying second coach and new tow vehicle. Sales tax 3%
No personal income tax. Full time and own no real estate so zero taxes...

Insurance by progressive....M.H. $80,000= $1,360  2011 GMC Terrain $792.00

Property taxes, school tax, income tax in Pa was much >$14,000.  That pays for a lot of fuel and campground fees.

Insurance on home was more than insurance on M.H and Auto combined...

Hope this helps with people sittin on the fence about going full time...SELL EVERYTHING, hide from your kids.  SKYPE with the grand kids.. life is good

Driver License Fees are going up a bit in South Dakota.  Motor Home fees are also being readjusted on a weight & age scale.
but SD is still a VERY good deal and a very price friendly place to tag and title your vehicle ... even if they were to DOUBLE all their fees!
Driver License:  $20
License Renewals:  $20
Duplicates:  $10

Just registered "Casper" 95 U-240 in Arizona.  Cost $248.35 plus emissions check.  $28.00.  No sales tax for sales between owners without a dealership.  Saved me a bundle.  Tag in Texas would have been $163.00 plus 6.25 % sales tax.  Arizona next year will be $200 plus emissions.  I may move it to Texas.  Arizona is killing me on the Fusion.  Would be about $70 in Texas.  $490 here for the Ford.  But for now the tags match.
