Title: Ride height measurement-which points?
Post by: Chuck Pearson on April 10, 2011, 08:34:48 am
I know ride height measurement has been extensively discussed, I've seen pictures of the measuring devices and such, but despite reading many, many posts on the topic there is one piece of info I am lacking.  Question-when you measure for the 8" of air ride height at each air bag, do you measure between (inside) or outside the metal bases of the air bags?  It's significantly different, and the bottom plate is tapered facing the bag.  I've also seen reference to a more accurate but more difficult measuring point on the frame.  Anyone know where that point is and what the dimension should be.  I'd like to get these ride height valves adjusted spot on.

Thanks, Chuck

Chuck,
Here is the link to Barry's site discussing the ride height.

Good Luck,

I looked at it again and low and behold I read  The proper measurement band between the top and bottom mounting plates for the air bags (air bags only) is 8"(+ or- 1/4") front and rear.  Don't know how I missed it.  Thanks, Brad

Chuck,
It's from inner surface of each plate. Make sure the coach is in "travel" mode, that the HWH travel light is lit, but of course with the Parking brake on.

I believe by "inner surface of each plate" Don is defining the ride height as "top of bottom plate" to bottom of top plate".

Said another way it is the distance occupied by the air bag.
