Ditto!!  We will be in the UP most of July & part of August.  Hard to decide favorite between Soo Locks CG, Munising Municipal Park or Municipal park in Hancock.

Thanks for the tips. I was looking for campgrounds other than just North of Channing (which is near our daughter's "Lake House")

When in Munising, be sure to do the Pictured Rocks boat tour. . .to us, it almost rivals the Grand Canyon.

Hi,

My wife grew up in the UP and we go up there several times a year.  If there is anything you need to know about it just ask us.  And if you go through Rock look on the right just after Finn Hall Rd. and you can give Otis, my Avatar a wave.  If he's not at a logging camp feeding the crew.

Paul,

Don't forget to include the River Mouth Campground, part of the Tahquamenon Falls State Park. It is big rig friendly and is very close to the Upper and Lower Falls (we prefer the Lower Falls because you can row a boat to an island surrounded by the falls and walk into the falls), and only 15 miles south of Whitefish Point and the Shipwreck Museum.  Don't miss it.

Spent 3 weeks there last Aug. The Munising Municipal Park has a great view of Grand Island and Lake Superior. Sue kayak over to Grand Island. Picture rocks boat ride is a must. Also check out Fayette State historical Park on Lake Mich. It's a preserved ghost town. Loon Point campground in Cederville, over looks Lescheneaux Islands. It's a great place to check out the classic wooden boats in Hessel, Mi.
