Does anyone know where to get the Filters for the old style, roof mount Duo Therm Air Conditioners. I have been unable to source them so far. Any help will be appreciated.
Wish I did Kent, I ordered, from camping world, what I thought were hypoalergenic (?)filters and don't know what the ones I got were for, but not even close. think I will go to Lowes and get the thinnest filters I can find and cut to fit.
Remember to get filter material that allows the same air flow through the unit as was originally installed. If the air flow is restricted, you run the risk of icing up the unit and the efficiency will be vastly reduced plus you'll have condensation dripping once the unit shuts off and the ice begins to melt.
I too have looked for better filtering material without success. For now I continue to remove the flimsy filter and wash & dry.
My flimsy filter tore during cleaning yesterday.
Most RV dealer parts departments have the filter material that came stock in these units. I replaced mine about 4 years ago, and it's getting to be time to replace again. But I think I may go to a store like Hobby Lobby and see what their price is. We're not talking real money savings here, but just curiosity.
My filters include a plastic frame. The filter media seems to be heat welded to the frame. Is that not how others are made?
We found some foam very similar to what was in the little plastic frames, and I removed the old, being careful not to damage the frame, and then hot-glued new foam onto the frame, and trimmed the excess. Worked well. As we are getting all new heat-pumps, I am assuming we will have updated filters as well. If anyone would like them, I will salvage the ones from my old units, along with the spares.
DING DING!
You have a taker!
Dave has first dibs.
If you could snag a pair of the covers that hold the filter, that would be awesome. I have a pair that have a couple of broken clips. Paypal if you want - let me know...
Be happy to, Dave. FYI, since you live in central Fla., about 2 miles from Lazy Days, on the opposite side of I-4 is a place called Tom's RV surplus. He has new ones in the package, and the filters.
That sounds like a place where I could do some major damage to my financial well being...
Well, his stuff runs full spectrum from travel trailers to motorhomes, and much of it is out of date, but sometimes, he has just what you're looking for in hard to find items. When I couldn't find a replacement LP detector with solenoid control, he had it. I almost got a replacement set of door handles for the Dometic side by side refer, but the guy in front of me beat me to them. I hate it when that happens.
Just bought filters yesterday at RV Connection. $1.59 each. These are a direct replacement
