This is why you get service at MOT. Went to Tulsa and picked up my new to me U295 02 40 ft. (My 99 is for sale) New experience with slides. They showed me to retract etc at the dealer before I left. Traveled to Choctaw KOA in Durant and stayed there last night. It was so stormy and windy all night. This morinng got ready to go. My ultimate nightmare the slides would not come in. The "excess slope" light was on. I am on contrete level pad.
Called Keith Davis at Mot. He gave instructions on what to ck. Then He told me to put my foot on the brake and release the air brake. Put air brake back on the travel green light came on. Now here is the stupid part. I still couldn't get the slides in. DUD I was pushing the button the wrong way all I had to do was read which way "retract" was. Push correct direction and all works the way it was supposed to. Keith stayed with me on the phone until the problem was resolved. I don't know why the excess slope light came on maybe it was the wind and the storm. Smarter than I used to be DAN Stansel U270 99 36 for sale and new owner of U295 40 ft 02.
Dan,
Don't feel bad. I have a LONG list of "stupid". Problem is, still adding to it..:)
Dan, I have sure been there. That's a good tip though about holding the service brake down and releasing the park brake. I think that forces the HWH to switch to Travel mode and I think I have inadvertently done that. I'm pretty sure I would not have thought to do that to cancel the Excess Slope condition.
Thanks, Dick
I you had to call a service tech to teach you,and he charged $150.00
That's what I call "ignorance tax"
Yeah, well. Sometimes, my stupidity knows no bounds!
I was getting ready to leave one evening after dark to meet the wife already at the camp ground, get in the coach fire it up, no power inside to any lights in the house. So i start checking all the 12 breakers with a test light no power, break out the wiring schematics(I have only owned the coach about a month). Upon further inspection if you kick the master switch in the stairwell on your way in the coach you won't have any 12V, 30 min later blood pressure up, turn the SW back on DUH, good to go.
Don't feel bad. Many of us have done this trick...but only once... :o I even called James Triana for my fling at this...I felt real stupid as James nailed it within one millisecond.
I have had turn with the 12 volt too. Put in the wrong bulb and blew the fuse. took a while to se why nothing was working.
I think it has happened to many of us.
I put a safety hinge that I can slide up over it to prevent being turned off by accident. Never happened again
Fool me once .... Fool me twice, no chance 8)
I had to repair an extension cord. Got it done. Was proud of how well I did it until I noticed that now both ends were female.
Wife said to water her flowers around the house. Did so, until she informed me the ones in the back of the garage were plastic.
