I finally got the battery project done. In place of the fried 8-D (bad converter overcharging) and tired group 24 starters, we now have four 6 volt Trojans for the house and two group 31s for starters. The batteries sit on a composite board with rubberized paint. To address any gassing issues, we have a nice, quiet muffin fan exhausting into the wheel well and hydrocaps (AHDs or Anti-Hindenbberg-Devices) on the Trojans. The caps are a lot larger than regular caps so I had to reroute the cabling a bit but it came out OK. The fan only runs when the converter is charging the batteries.
I thought I was just about out of projects when I decided to replace the city water connection that was leaking. I ended up with the same issue Dwayne faced. What a pain. All is well now. Dry as a bone!

Nice job! I have the two 8D AGM's and don't worry about the fan or vented cover. My water situation is resolved but I just learned that in the event I do have to cut the grey poly line and PEX it, I'll need a poly to pex fitting which I knew nothing about.
Hey, Dwayne. Polly pex a pack of pex peppers.

John, I was just going to complement you on your workmanship until I red your Poly/Pex quip. Now you get nothing.
Actually I always appreciate good humor. Nicely done!
