Bob has insisted on inspecting the toilet piping once a week during his black water tank flush. I used to think this was over kill until today when we found a crack in the water connection piece and a small amount of water on the cork flooring that we replaced less than a year ago. We wouldn't have known there was a problem until to late. We decided to fill the water tank and shut off the pump at night to avoid waking up in the morning to a lake in the coach! Any thoughts on this?? Faith
Buy a new piece and replace it. I think it is crimped on to the pipe so you will have to cut the ring off first. A hacksaw blade will do it and be careful not to cut the pipe. Depending on whether you have along enough piece of pipe that has some slack in it you can just cut it off at the ring. Problem is you need to have a 1/2' crimper to re-install. Home Depot rent them out and maybe someone else in your area. It is simple to do and if not sure ask the rental people to show you. This kind of crack cannot be repaired to last.
I recently replaced a line between my hot water heater and the Manabloc. Each end had fittings that look like the fitting in your picture. It was relatively cheap and easy to replace the line and fittings with supplies from a local hardware store. The fittings were push fit and didn't require a crimping tool. I bought a cutter designed to cut the plastic pipe squarely and cleanly.
Bob had parts on hand and repairs were completed within an hour. Thanks for all the advice.
