Waiting for my new lifters to come in so I closely examined how the old ones will come off. There is a C shaped ring that holds them on and on first examination I can see that they might get damaged trying to remove them. Anyone been there...done that?
if they are the same style as ours all you do is put a screwdriver behind them and pry a bit to be able to pull the socket off the ball. They are spring steel so will not damage.
I figured this out yesterday. Ours has a slot along the side of the metal clip that holds the piston to the mount. I placed a flat screwdriver blade into the slot and pried up slightly. That separated the "teeth" enough for the end to slide off the mount easily. If the clip goes shooting off into the grass, you are probably buying a new one anyway!
