Title: simple generator question
Post by: oldmattb on July 13, 2011, 09:30:23 pm
94 Grand Villa with an Onan 6.5 propane under the sofa.

Simple question:  Do I have to remove the generator from the coach to service the back spark plug?

with the proper extension and handle you should be able to reach over the top of the generator to access the plug. It will be a feel situation as you can not see it, and is very tight fit. Good luck

Knowing it can be done helps.  It feels like there is about 1.5 inches of clearance between the coach and the top of the generator.

Thanks!

I did it.  If I can do it...anyone can do it.  Might be a problem with big catcher's mitt hands though...

Made a serious try to get the plug out.  Ten minutes of trying different angles, drawer in and out, and could never even get two fingers on the plug wire boot at one time.  This is with the bay insulation having fallen out.  Maybe the drawer slides are the problem - without them I think the extra clearance would make it possible.

Looks like gen removal, unless you will be in my neighborhood soon!
