Where would I look locally for a soft vinyl strap to use as a tether on the shower door. After close to 11 years, ours finally tore. Obvious place is a hardware store, but I need some out-of-the-box thinking.
Thanks
George, ours gave out awhile back, and the only place we could find one (called a tie back strap) was a camping supplies store. If there's nothing locally, here's one at Camping World:
Rv Designer Collection - Drape Carrier - Tie Back Strap - Window Covering (http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/drape-carrier-tie-back-strap/21577)
Of course, if you need $45 worth of other items, then their shipping will only be $5! ;)
Also, this is the same strap that is used to secure other items in storage, such as the dining table extension, so it can be cut to fit whatever purpose you have in mind.
George, why not make one out of some vinyl or extra thick plastic, easy to do.
George: Just replaced mine with a plastic item in the shower door department at Lowes. Home Depot has same. Took scissors and cut to match exsisting. Works and looks like original.
Tks DAN
George:
Ours broke last year and I replaced it with a piece of old water hose. It may not look like much, but we are the only ones to see it.

Great responses. As soon as Maine Power company repairs the sub-station that blew out at Noon I will head to Lowe's. We were in the local movie house watching previews before the latest Harry Potter move when all went black. Geez. Wish I were a teenager again.
Let's hear from Sandy and see if she shares your ardor. If so it could have been a great movie to not see.
When mine broke I took a two inch PVC TEE and cut the center out of it so that it would fit over the door and side frame keeping the door closed. I don't have a working camera but when I do I will post a picture.
