Anyone else have a dining table that is like mine? May be a custom installation for the first owner, but maybe not. It is 45 x 28 inches, has a leg that is not fastened to the floor, and can be pulled away from the wall about 6 inches. I think it is larger than the standard table as someone standing at the stove or sink makes it a bit difficult for another person to pass, but we do that. There is a latch to keep it closed. Until I made an opening in the crossbrace there was no way to release the latch. The leg is just fastened in place with 6 screws and the first time I tried to move it the leg was firmly embedded in the carpet and the screws pulled out. I put in larger screws and rounded the bottom edges of the foot of the leg. It's easier to move now, but any pulling and pushing needs to be applied on the leg just below the crossbrace so the leg stays vertical. It seats 4 easily and gives the person next to the wall a little more elbow room. It seems fairly sturdy without the leg, but not strong enough for someone to sit on. I always thought the table was larger than normal, but 2 years passed before I noticed that it could be moved.
1997 U295 36' CAI - same sliding table, but no leg. I expect the leg is a custom addition. I would expect putting too much weight on our table might tear it from the wall. That has never been a problem for us.
The support without the leg allows us to put an air mattress on the floor under the table. We move the chairs so that a twin mattress fits nicely. The other twin air mattress fits on the sofa when it is folded down. That helps to provide comfortable sleeping spots for both grandchildren.
Ours came with one extension leaf & we made a second one so we can sit 6 with 2 chairs for "Mexican Train" 8)
If anyone else has that lock system and can not release or open the lock, remove the screws, and exchange the parts and remount them on the other wooden part. No reason the handle could not be mounted on the fix part, and the locking tab on the moving part. Probably just done wrong when first assembled and no one ever tried to actually unlock to slide the table.
The before photo would have rated a publishing in those sites with improvable or impossible buildings. Ones with doors and no steps, light switches on the hinge side of the jam, stairs to nowhere.
Ours is the same as Mr. Stevens. Wall mount table, no leg. Our latch seems to work fine we often use the table in the extended position.
