I'm looking to replace my exhaust system to include the muffler. Would there be part numbers or were these made at the factory?
Leave the muffler off and just have a resonator put in close to the end. I just took out mine and put SS flex and straight pipe in-sounds good and you get rid of weight and heat. Do not need it with a turbo

Like to add to the already mentioned, less weight, lot less heat, but also improved power and fuel burn,
Once you make the change to the resonator, I doubt you will want to go back to the bulky, heavy, heat generating muffler restrictor system. ^.^d
Dave,
I didn't have much luck with FOT or MOT when I was rounding up parts to replace my exhaust system.
Take a look at slide #13 of the following to see my bill of materials;

I've been extremely pleased with what my son and I put together. I like it a whole lot better than the original design; lighter weight, much less mass radiating high heat, AERO design prevents the impounding of exhaust products, smaller (muffler/resonator) cross section, all 304SS components, system stability (doesn't beat up the fiberglass exit port), mellow SOUND, gains in performance and maybe even fuel economy (slight, but the engine definately breathes better).
A good truck shop, that's willing to work on your coach, should be able to do the same thing.
FWIW,
Neal
Another tidbit on the biggie concerning fuel improvement with a resonator setup.
Yes the engine does run freer and if driven the exact same way it will give better fuel mileage, however I for one, like the way it runs and use more throttle burning more fuel.
The heat issue is much less no matter how you drive it.
My last trip provided better mpg than the same one before the change to the exhaust.
I am sure anyone can argue one way or the other, but in the real world the setup is very capable of producing better fuel mileage. MPG is still a product of your right foot.
Thanks to all the folks for the reply's, especially Neal for the slide show.......I will be going with the resonator set up now.
