I know John Christman loved his glass dash. Cost him 10 grand.
John is the guy that got me interested in the Silverleaf Glass dash, but I got sidetracked with the Xtreme paint job etc $23k, so I had to cool it a bit, but now it is coming back to the front. Like said, I sort of forgot about it until I saw Bros. new mega coach. now The Glass Dash is something you gotta see, beyond my vocabulary. The sad part, it is throwing money down the rat hole, never get a pennyback from it.
Today's cost is more like $12-13K, Silverleaf flies a man in, stays in motel a few days and does the install in my garage. So between air fare, motel etc & etc, can see the 12-13 eaten up fairly quick.

Just think how cool that Glass Dash will look. And remember how hard it is to read the speedo in our coaches. With the Glass Dash you can have the best speedometer and a whole bunch of other gauges. It's more than money. It's helping the local economy (guy at local motel visits nearby restaurants). It's helping out the U.S. economy. SilverLeaf is in Oregon. Should I conjure up other reasons for you?
The funny thing I found when visiting Silverleaf Plant was that Martin and his crew are the typical electronic whiz "kids" but the office is rather upside down , to put it mildly, but their knowledge is top notch. I had a few issues with the install as it was not reading a few things and others were way off in left field. It took an hour of playing with the settings to + or - and tweek a bit. My tires are slightly larger so that had to be adjusted as I was reading 10% mph low and never knew it !!! Engine hrs and mileage had to be corrected and now I can do it all myself. They have a complete motorhome test bed set up on one wall so never need to leave the shop. I have a lot of admiration for that outfit as they do really good things there, and are very helpful after the fact.
I also love watching it while on the road and with my low support I do not have any dead spots in my line of vision and the screen is right there in view all the time.

Don't forget to consider options like Steve did, the "ForePuter", an in-dash netbox with 7" touch screen monitor (kind of the Poortravel version of the VMS-440 with radio, GPS, etc. built in).

I agree. That is one of the best features of my VMS 240 CL. After my experience with my 240 I would never be able to go to VMS on a laptop, even if only a bit off to the side.
