Title: U-line Ice Maker -> Wine Fridge
Post by: Benjie Zeller on August 23, 2011, 03:15:42 pm
Has anyone ever converted their ice maker to a wine fridge or maybe something else that's useful?  Our ice maker has a small water leak and instead of replacing it, I'm thinking about using the space for something else.  If by chance you installed a wine fridge, can you share the PN?  I've not found a good one yet that would fit the space well.

Thanks,
Benjie

Benjie,

U-Line wholesale distributor is AER Supply in Seabrook, Tx.  They will sell to RVers at very good prices.

Call Philip Covault at 281.474.3276.  Philip can help you trouble shoot and determine the part needing replacement.

You may be able to repair cheaper than you thought.  I use my U-Line every day.

AER is a marine distributor for U-Line, SeaLand, Blue Sea, 3-M, Cole Hersee and a number of other products I use for my coach.

I miss the Uline that was in my old FT.  If all it has wrong is a water leak I would guess that it is repairable,  be a shame to trash it before you know exactly what the leak is.  Even if ice maker is toast they are really useful as freezers.

We enjoyed our ice maker that was under our pantry shelves, but wanted the space more than the tons of ice it made. So even though it was working just fine, we took it out and gave it to a friend.

We found a nice piece of oak board that matched our cabinets and had it cut, edge routed and finished by a woodworking shop. I put hinges, latch and matching knob on the new door. And we now have a huge new storage space for lots of odd size food items right under our pantry.

Space is a premium for us and ice is readily available and our new electric fridge now makes tray ice twice a day. We removed our U-Line several years ago and still comment to ourselves what a good thing we did for ourselves.

I closed off the nylon water supply line, that went under the floor to the ice maker, at the under-sink water filter.

Our combo washer/dryer space has also been reclaimed for a printer and general storage space after we removed the ABS plumbing drain pipe. Hot & cold water is turned off at the manifold.
