On our trip out to Inks Lake SP (really nice park by the way) this weekend my Audit monitor blew the fuse. Tried another with the same result. Thanks to a post by Kent Speers a while back it looks like the culprit is most likely the Audit CRT power supply. I know there have been multiple posts on this topic, but I still have a few questions that didn't seem to be covered in those. I've attached a few pics of the set up I have.
It seems several people have successfully changed out their monitors with aftermarket monitors, however, mine appears to have some of the switches integrated into the CRT portion of the set up.
1. I believe (at least I'm hoping) the monitor sits on top of the switch box housing the ON/OFF, Camera/Monitor, Gen Start/Stop, etc. Does anyone know?
2. In pics 2 and 3, you can see Power (RED), Coax (video input from Audit box), and gnd (BLACK). However, it's not clear to me what the brown, green/yellow, and purple are. They appear to run under the circuit board towards the front so I'm assuming they tie into the switch box housing for ON/OFF, Camera/Monitor, etc. Anyone have an electrical schematic of the Audit 700 system? It's easy enough to remove the old monitor and install a new one, but I'm going to have to figure out how I need to modify the system to interact with these three wires since they are actually tied into the CRT circuit board which will no longer be there!
3. Pic 4 and 5 are of the Audit 700 box itself. I noticed the purple is video select which implies the purple in #2 probably interfaces to it somehow, but with the removal of the CRT circuit board I'm at a loss on how to modify without a schematic or someone's experience.
4. Pic 5 lists all the pinouts. I've been able to decipher all the pins except pin 15 due to the black spatter. Anyone know what that is?
5. ON/OFF switch function - anyone know if this just turns on the CRT or is it the ON/OFF for the entire Audit system? My concern here relates to #2. If it controls power to the entire system, then I'm going to need to figure out how to modify the wiring since the CRT circuit board will no longer be there.
They could have made this a whole lot easier on me if the CRT would have been just a dumb terminal with power, gnd, and video in!
Benjie,
Use this if it looks like yours. I have an extra unit you can have if you like. Let me know and I can stick it in tomorrow's post. Mine is out of a '93. Here are photos. Write if you need more info.
Pierce,
The schematics are super helpful! Thanks so much!
Mighty generous of you to offer up your unit! I'm more than happy to pay for it or at least let me cover shipping! My address is 2233 Fernspring Drive, Round Rock, TX 78665. If they need a phone, let me know and I'll PM you it.
Thanks again,
Benjie
Benjie,
Thought someone might be able to use it. Glad I kept it. It is an 1160 but schematic is the same for both 600 and 1100 series. Think only difference might have been the optional altimeter.
Don't worry about postage. Lots of people have done same for me throughout the years.
Working fine when I took it out. Hope it does the trick for you.
Wrapped and ready to go. Schematic from manual inside. Will USPS tomorrow morning.
Best,
Pierce
The wires to pins 2,3 & 4 on the 10 pin connector on my monitor go to the dimmer on the insterment panel.
Thanks! Interesting that all three go to the dimmer. Do you know what Audit system you have? On top of the CRT monitor, mine says Audit 700. I'm hoping when I pull the old monitor I find that those same wires have nothing to do with my ON/OFF or Camera/Tank Level switches located below the CRT. If that's the case, it'll be an easy fix with any monitor!
Don't mess with that gang plug and pulling wires. Just replace the monitor. The rear view goes into the Audit and comes back to the monitor with the switch flipping between views. I replaced mine with the Voyager monitor but it is very expensive and if I had it to do over again I'd find a cheap one with two inputs (one from cam and one from Audit) and a switch on the front of it to toggle between views and just leave the dash swich power on and monitor selected to Audit. I just did this change out. Provided your Audit is still working and just your monitor power supply is bad this is the way to go. You may need to change the camera if the monitor input doesn't have optional reverse image feature. Radio Shack has all the adapters for the BNR (existing) to RCA (used on new cameras and monitors).
Dwayne, I'll be forced to mess with the 10 pin connector in my second image as it is part of the display board. The brown, purple, green/yellow wires are what concern me as I'm not exactly sure what they are. Hopefully, they're specific to the old CRT display and can be wire nutted off with a new display. Won't know until i remove the display and see what they connect to!
Lauri Morale at Javelina Corp may be able to help.
Hey Pierce,
Looks like we got our wires crossed! I received what you sent today, but what's broken is the display monitor, not the Audit monitor. :-( Anyway, I really appreciate your generosity regardless. Would you like me to send it back to you?
I'm just going to have to figure out a cheap EBAY replacement unless someone has one of the old B&W CRTs sitting around?
Thanks,
Benjie
Benjie,
Really sorry that wires were crossed. No, don't return it. I think I recycled the CRT but will take a look to make sure. A number of members have changed over to new monitors/color camera so perhaps another may have one.
I made a post on my conversion so let me know if you want any info.
Double bummed.
Benjie,
I have the BW monitor that I removed from my coach. I do not know if it is the same as yours, but your more than welcome to it. I'm in Ruidoso until next week and then could measure the unit to see if it will fit your coach. I'm located in Fredericksburg and go into Austin monthly.
Thanks,
Brad,
That would be awesome! I don't mind taking a drive out to Fredericksbug either. I'm sure it'll prob fit but I'll try and measure on Monday.
Best Regards,
Benjie
