How can I test to see if my PACS 1500 inverter is working? I switched it on and do not get any TV power or Microwave power when not hooked up to shore power. I don't even here the fan running or anything when I have it switched on. Is there something else that I'm missing to power it up?
What is a good replacement for this unit that will work with the power board in the coach?
Sorry for all the questions!
Thank you,
Dave
It's been a while since I replaced mine but the first thing to check is the 15 amp "pop-out" style circuit breaker on the front of the actual inverter - this is for all the control wiring. Next check voltage of the main 12 power (big cables) going to the inverter - there's a large (about 1" in diameter) fuse the could have blown - I think the fuse in the battery/utility bay. Then there are the relay boxes that are under the bed - when the inverter power comes on - you should be able to hear (with someone else up front turning on the switch) these relays clicking. Hope this helps.
I haven't used mine in ages but our coaches should be the same... In the bed room at the panel near the tv be sure the power to the inverter is on... mine has a button to push in.. Also in the bathroom on mine is a reset button beside a 110 receptical, be sure the reset button is in. Also the inverter will have a off on switch on the face. Check these 3 locations. When the inverter comes on you will hear it hum. Also check the fuse that's on the face of the inverter.
On my old 1990 U280, the inverter was in a position behind the step so that one could turn it off without meaning to by stowing something that could hit it. The former owner warned me of that, as it had happened to him. Let's hope it is that simple for you.
Thank you all. I have checked everything and I have lights on the panel upstairs when I switch it on but nothing works for the inverter. I did not find the big inline 1" fuse. But I figure it must be getting power to light up the panel. I switched it on and off on the face of the unit, removed and reinstalled the 15amp fuse and still nothing.
DUB, the only other switch near the rear TV is labeled TV boost and there is nothing other than a GFI in the bathroom. I'm thinking it is dead... Lack of use.... Bummer. Will look for another one down the road. Not needed right now.
Thank you,
Dave
For our 1999 u295 the 120 volt cercit from the inverter is feed through the gfi in the bathroom. If the gfi not working nothing will. Gam
Don't give up on it this quick. Give me some time to look closer at mine.
There should be a second transfer switch in the underbed area.
That second transfer switch has to sense whether there is shore/generator power coming to it (from the generator/shore power transfer switch) before it allows voltage to energize the circuit for the inverter if there is no shore/generator power. It shouldn't be too hard to check whether the inverter power is live at the transfer switch input. I would guess it is sticking in the shore/generator position and unable to switch to the inverter.
That would make good sense because this unit has very little use on it. Never used at all in the last 12 years. I need to find out which one is the right circuit under the bed.
Thank you all for helping.
Dub I'm not into giving up just yet. I think it is something like Brad just said. I just have to figure out where this is and how to test it.
Thanks again.
