Title: monitor
Post by: gordon cole on August 30, 2011, 12:53:05 pm
In earlier postings I was struggling to find a replacement monitor for my U320.  With the help of my hi-teck son-in-law, I obtained a new monitor (the kind that goes in an SUV headrest from qualitymobilevideo.com for $129.  It hooks up and works great and with a little modification will fit in the existing opening.

This is an interesting idea.  Can you go into a little more detail regarding "a little modification"?

What make/model did you get?  Did you also replace the back up camera or did it work fine with the new monitor?

The new monitor is about the same height and slightly narrower than the entire opening for the original one.  The original monitor had the power, selector and contrast controls off to the right side.  The new one has the controls on the face (and has a remote) so I think I will be able to just fabricate a different back plate and won't have to mess with the upholstered part of the dash.
The camera apparently works fine.  To test that prior to purchasing the new monitor we hooked the output line from the camera to an input terminal on the TV.  Since the camera worked on the TV, it almost had to be the monitor.  Hope this helps.

The model number of the monitor I purchased was Savv LM-U7300W 7 inch LCD Headrest Monitor
