Title: The Wait Is Over!
Post by: Don & Tys on September 08, 2011, 10:00:33 am
 :D
The stars have aligned, the check is written, the side yard has been cleared, and whatever else had to happen has happened and we are going to bring her home today! Finally, my Foretravel obsession will be assuaged by an actual physical object:) we are so excited that we were up before 6am this morning... Sleep has left the building!

Of course, we still have to do the walk through... But we have visited her four times while this process has been unfolding. The dealer has shown great patience, in spite of the fact that our Foretravel probably represents about 20% of the his assets... Small dealership! I know that there are not that many people out there with the cash who want a no slide diesel pusher and realize the value equation that a Foretravel represents, but still I do appreciate the fact that we weren't made to feel we were taking up their time.

Thanks to all on this forum who have helped us with timely information and suggestions. You have made the process much easier than it would otherwise have been. We are planning to go to "Q" as our first major outing... Hope to meet some of you there in the flesh. Wish us luck on the PDI! We will update when she is safely home...

Don:  I sold my 36 99 U270 this year and I have to say it is a fine machine.
Will take you couple months to acquaint yourself but the forum will help.  Helped me a lot.
My build nr was 5470 so close to yours.  Any questions just ask.
Got an 02 40ft with two slides now and I will say it takes more turning room for the 40.
36 is great for a lot of camp sites.  Good luck with your walk thru. DAN

Hi Ed and Sue,

I've been to Wilderness Lakes...how are the flies this year? If you are heading down to Pio Pico, let us know...that's probably the first place we'll take our new FT once we do a little work on it!

Now if that doesn't sound like a new FT owner, I don't know what would  ;)

Now on your mention of "Q", I'm sure Barry will post once the details are known, but there's quite a big rally of FTers in Q every year (Jan/Feb, IIRC).  This thread should give you an idea  Quartzite 2011 - Who is going? (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=11285.0)

Great news , enjoy getting to know the coach. I have enjoyed our 99 270 these past two years. I hope you have many years of wonderful memories with the coach. Have a safe trip.

Don, Congrats, you will have a learning curve but there is lots of help here.
Be sure and call Beverly at FOT to get your free one year MC membership and when you call her suggest strongly that the year should start on 1-1-12 otherwise it will expire 12-31 and she will want full years dues then, or WAIT til 12-31 to call her.
Good luck

Congratulations - and welcome to the Foretravel "family" and the forum!

There's no need to wait or to delay the start of your MC membership - at least not in our experience.  We purchased our coach in early November 2009 - and received a free full-year membership that started immediately.  Then, a year later we received a bill for a one-year membership that started November 2010.

Gary is correct - do give Beverly a call to get your numbers and start your membership (and that 10% discount - you never know when you'll need to call FOT and order something!  :)) ).  From the MC website:  contact us via e-mail at motorcadeclub@foretravel.com or call 1.800.955.6226, ext. 220 or 248

Enjoy the new "baby"!

Don,

Flies are still around- but tolerable! The large Calif. Dairy farm nextdoor is a sure attraction for these pests. But the owners do their part in controlling everything pretty well. Too bad Pio Pico is not in the agenda this time. We are busy helping with the grandkids etc.- Our Son in law and family have just returned fr. 3 yrs. on Guam- ( Naval Cmdr.). Now to start here at Camp Pendeleton. Entire family settling in. Will then head back to Fl. end of Sept.
Have apt'ment at Extreme Gr. first week of Oct. to have roof of coach painted.

Enjoy the coach; we all are so blessed to have this wonderful Forum.

Don,
From one U270 owner to another...we own the best Foretravel made at the most reasonable price.  I love our "little" 34 footer.  We've made many repairs and improvements, as I'm certain you will also once you get "the bug" (if you don't already have it).

There will be many questions you have about all the special features that Foretravel packed into each coach they made.  We're here to help you and improve your ownership experience.

Congrats & Enjoy!

Awesome! We got home, power went out all over the county and we are sitting in our air conditioned coach eating dinner! Off the grid, for a little while...  The walk through went well, though it took about 3 hours, but we brought it home, leveled it (I was impressed because we have some slope in this spot). About 30 minutes later the power went down (still down 2.5 hrs later), and we just retreated to our coach, fired up the gen, made dinner. We absolutely love this thing! Pictures coming soon! Thanks for all the support and good wishes!

Cool! (So to speak.)

About a year ago, we were preparing to take the coach out for a couple of weeks to visit family. The air conditioner in the house failed. We moved into the FT and hung out there until the AC was fixed. After it was fixed, we left on our trip.

During our last trip, the starter capacitor on the "new" AC failed. After we arrived home, we stayed in the coach until the AC was fixed and the house cooled down. Outside temps were about 105F.

Coach is fueled, fresh water tank is full, and the 'fridge is on now. We normally keep it that way. We are in rural, desiccated Texas, where there are wildfires are burning homes 40 miles east of us and 80 miles west of us. We have discussed what goes into the coach if we have to evacuate.

Having the coach allowed the last guest room in the S&B home to become the "quilt construction room." Guests stay in the coach, or we stay in the coach and put the guests in the master (the only) bedroom.

Enjoy the "new to you" FT. It can be useful in many ways.

Hey Don,

Congrats on your new purchase!  Jennifer & I purchased our coach this past January from a gentleman in NH.  Although we're presently living in CO (2 years)..we still have our home in Scripps Ranch.  Please let me know if you have any questions, as I've learned quite a lot during the past eight months of renovations.

Congratulations Don and Tys!!

We've had the same rig as your new one (99 U270) for 3 1/2 years now and it's been a great coach!  Post some pictures if/when you install a recording setup!

Lots of great expertise here on the forum, so do ask lots of questions as you get familiar with your new home!

That's most excellent. Congratulations!  ;D

Don't forget to call FT to let them know you're a new owner. Free 1 yr membership in the Motorcader Club (with 10% discount on FT parts), and a free 1 yr membership in the FMCA. Just for buying one. Aren't these folks great?

Don and Tys,

Welcome to the family.  We have had our coach for about a year and a half and really love it.  We are total newbies and  are gearing up for some big travels next year.  We are up in the Inland Empire so not to far from you guys and are hoping to hit Quartzite this year.  Good luck and happy travels with your new rig.

Thanks for all the good wishes, everyone! Amazing synchronicity that we just happened to bring our coach home an hour before the power outage. When we heard the power was going to be off for an indefinite period of time we started setting up the coach in a hurry since without air conditioning a night in the house would be pretty uncomfortable. I'm happy to report that all systems worked and we are totally in love with this magnificent machine. Now for a shopping trip to pick up all those little gadgets and accessories that make for luxurious living... :D

(Already ordered a Splendide 2100XC from Camping World....awesome Internet special over Labor day weekend that included $5 shipping....saved around $300!)

Thanks! It is too soon to tell if we will be able to make that event, but if so I will look forward to meeting other California Foretravelers!
