Title: Cargo bay lights
Post by: Lon and Cheryl on September 14, 2011, 10:38:39 pm
Most of the cargo bay 12V lights on my 95 U320 don't work. The bulbs are fine.
I either have to trace a wiring problem or there's a master inside switch that turns them on and off that I haven't located.

Thanks

Check the switches that are activated by opening the bay door. I had one of those fail. I was able to take it apart and successfully put it back together in working fashion. It is probably a better choice to replace a failing switch rather than trying to fix it.

After an overflow of fresh water from the toilet (D'oh!) flooded some wiring for the lights in the bays, a breaker had to be reset. The breaker was a 12VDC breaker on a panel in the main storage bay. The button to reset the breaker was virtually invisible. It is a tiny black button on the side of the breaker. I reset it with a popsicle stick.

Mine where not working. It was the switches on the doors. They are a Cole Hersey switch don't remember the part number.

I have a 94 and had the same problem.  Sprayed some WD40 on the switch button, worked in for a couple minutes, and all is well.
The switch was sticking.

I had to replace 4 of these switch's. FOT $12.00 each plus shipping. On E Bay $2.95 each plus shipping. Same quality ?, the one from FOT seems of better quality. found the E Bay www site on a posting from Barry

If corrosion is present in the switches, and you already have some Corrosion X, try giving them a shot.

Spraying the switches with contact cleaner and lube?
WAY to easy!
I can't get off that easy!
