Title: Power Steering
Post by: gtcalvert on September 19, 2011, 07:12:28 pm
Does anyone know what power steering fluid to use in a 1990 Grand Villa with Oshkosh chassis with the 8.2 Detroit. The owners manual says never to add gear oil or conventional power steering fluid. The chassis manual is missing.

Normal hydraulic fluid has been SAE 10 motor oil around here for years. Do not know what the specific is, but the SAE10 should be safe until you find somthing different.

Actually, I would call James Triana at Foretravel for the answer.  800 955-6226.

The reservoir on our 1993 says Delo 400 15-40.

But, yours could be ATF or hydraulic fluid.  The viscosity is important for proper operation.
