Title: Accent Lighting
Post by: GregoryS on September 23, 2011, 02:26:34 pm
Our coach has accent lighting on all the window balances.  Everything operates, but some bulbs are apparently burned out, and I would like to replace them.  The light tubes are 5/16ths in diameter, and have a mounting tab attached to the tube.  Foretravel only has 96 inch sticks in stock.  Does anyone know where else I can purchase these?

Karl,  This seems to be exactly what I need.  Apparently, they had a facility that is now closed in Ponder, TX, so this would kind of indicate where Foretravel acquired these.  Also, has anyone replaced these?  The way they were attached at the factory will make reistallation very difficult.  These lights have a mounting strip made into the plastic tube that is stapled to the window valances, and they must have been installed prior to the assembly of the valance.  I will probably just cut off the old tube, cut off the new tab and clear silicone into place.    In any event, I than you for your response, and you definately deserve a karma; but unfortunately I do not know how to give you one.  Hopoefully, the moderator will post one on my behalf.  Thank you again,

Michelle

Thank you for the instruction.

Do you have accent lighting on your valances, and have you ever replaced them?  I know LED's use less power but I am concerned about the mismatch of valance lighting, under counter lighting, and other various accent lighting not being the same.

We do - under the valances, around the ceiling inserts, and under counter in the kitchen and bath.  We haven't had any bulbs burn out (and we do use the lights in the evenings when watching TV)

The valences aren't terribly difficult to remove, just time-consuming.  We did it when we installed our MCD shades.  First the side pieces need to come off, then you can unscrew the valance.  It helps to have a second person to hold the valance while you operate the screwdriver and then unplug the light strip.  I don't recommend having 3 "helpful" cocker spaniels around while you're doing this  :D
