On our way to Pecan RV Park in Jacksonville this morning we picked up Steve Burnett at the FL Welcome Center on I95. Steve got his first opportunity to drive Moose. He seemed quite pleased. When we got parked and went to show him how to deploy the slide, it would not work. Aarrgghhhhhhhh. I drove to the Park office and asked who among the several local RV techs was the best. They said that Bill of Mobile Coach & RV Repair 904-463-5050 was their preferred. Long story short. Two and 1/2 hours later Bill had fixed the problem. He began by checking solenoids and relays and traced the 12V power through the system. We got the pump to run, but then he discovered a leak in the new manifold I bought from HWH in February for $368.00. Bill took it apart and cleaned out the mini valves or ports (I am not a technical guy) but he has a background in making small valves and stuff for the airline industry and put it all back together. He showed me that three of the small Philips screws on the manifold assembly from HWH were rounded out, but fortunately I had saved the old manifold (Gary O says never throw anything away) and we were able to take three good screws from that unit). We now have a fully functioning slide and the wallet didn't take too big of a hit. Bill charges $50 for the visit and $100 per hour with a one hour minimum. I would not hesitate to have him work on HWH, electrical or video and plumbing. This guy is a combination of Gary Omel and Keith Risch. He is damn good.
My pet peeve....Having to fix something I paid $$ for at a reputable facility. Cannot tell you how many time FOT, MOT, and others did not do correcty what I paid them for. We have had great luck with mobil mechanics... hope I didn't just jinks us
Glad to see it was an easy fix and all is well...
Right up to the end. Glad it was a fairly easy fix.
George,
MOOSE was just telling it he did not want to go !!!
Wish I could find a guy around here like that!!!
